ASHEVILLE, N.C. — A familiar fast food spot in North Asheville is set to be demolished as Chase Bank prepares to build a new branch location at 99 Merrimon Avenue.
Located directly across from Trader Joe’s, the bank will replace the former Bojangles. In its place, Chase plans to construct a 3,300-square-foot facility that will include drive-thru service and modern amenities, according to city permit records and public filings.

This location will mark the bank’s second new branch in the Asheville area, part of a broader expansion across Western North Carolina. Chase is also moving forward with plans to build another branch in South Asheville, on the site of a former Kentucky Fried Chicken at 1860 Hendersonville Road. Demolition permits for that project were submitted earlier this year, with construction already underway.
This project aligns with Chase’s ongoing national expansion into mid-sized markets. The company has significantly increased its brick-and-mortar presence over the past five years, even as other banks scale back their physical footprints. While no official opening date has been announced for this new location, activity on the site is expected to begin soon, pending final permitting and contractor approval.
